Origin: MExico
Howdy to Iowa (and to you!) from southern states of Chiapas and Oaxaca, Mexico, where there are mountain ranges that provide higher altitudes and ideal climates for cultivating coffee. Coffee is cultivated on small scale farms, and processed in micro mills.
This Howdy, IA has notes of fragrant orange and caramelized brown butter; a dusty cocoa complexity with a clean and sweet finish.
origin: nicaragua
This coffee comes from a department in North Central Nicaragua. Washed after harvest, this coffee strikes a mellow tone without much fruity lift.
Flavor-wise, this Stoic Farmer is a nice wintry dark roast offering. This bean boasts nuanced flavors that invite pairing with your choice of milk or cream: honey, cinnamon, creamy peanut butter, & a pleasant malt tang.
ORIGIN: nicaragua
Another Nicaraguan coffee, this one comes from a small, family run producer in the North Central department of Jinotega.
This fully-washed, Fair Trade & organic certified Pinhook Premium is roasted medium. It has a bright introductory note of dried lemon, baking spice complexity and malt tang with a chocolate & smooth finish.
Origin: Panama
Panama is an origin that constantly makes headlines in the specialty coffee world. With this lot from Finca Isabel, Little Scratch is exploring a new-to-us origin. Finca Isabel has 500 acres cultivated with coffee, meticulously divided into plots with distinct varieties.
This coffee is roasted to its happy place - medium, in this case - and has fruity notes of baked apple, orange, and a raspberry zing. A peanut butter nuttiness and body accompanies an herbal complexity and chocolate finish for an altogether stunning sip.
This one’s currently in the hopper as the house Espresso at Little Scratch!
